Medicaid – Plan Selection and Fixed Enrollment Periods

Please read the following update related to various Health New England programs and changes that may have an impact on your patients and/or your practice.
Plan Selection Periods and Fixed Enrollment Periods for MassHealth members:
Effective October 1, 2016, MassHealth began implementing respective Plan Selection Periods and Fixed Enrollment Periods for members enrolled in MCOs (including Health New England). Members enrolled in an MCO will only be able to change MCOs during their annual 90-day Plan Selection Period. Once their annual Plan Selection Period has ended, members will be in a Fixed Enrollment Period and, except in limited circumstances, members will be unable to change MCOs until their next annual Plan Selection Period.
This change does not require you to take any steps or make any changes as a provider. MassHealth sent notification directly to all heads of households between August 25 and August 31, 2016, informing members of the changes coming to the MCO Plan Selection Period.
If one of your current Health New England Be Healthy patients has any concerns regarding this change, please direct them to contact the Member Services number on the back of their member ID card.
