The Journey of the Mirror and It’s Reflection!
Posted on September 4, 2013

Have you ever stood in front of a mirror and said to your self “One day I will accomplish… One day I will achieve… or the famous saying One-day I will become?”. I am sure many can relate to this question, as I know I have.
A child’s reflection works the same way! Children depend on their parents to guide, nurture and provide the essential qualities needed to succeed in life. A year ago my son was a little peanut, today he is one and eager to explore the world. With each passing year, it will be another milestone in this journey to share with him. As a parent, I am responsible for my son’s future, morals and values he will obtain. Though children have their own unique personality, who I am as a person is what my child will mirror and want to become. Often times we may not realize that what we do daily as parents will impact our child’s life both as an individual and his or her self esteem. Eating healthy is a good example. If my child see’s that I eat healthy, my child will want to eat healthy. Though having a burger, or chips once in a while doesn’t hurt, it is the simple positive act of living a healthy lifestyle that is the key message. I can’t expect my child to eat healthy if I am not. If my child sees that I am optimistic and reflect that energy, then he too will learn to optimistic.
Being a parent is truly an amazing journey, as you tend to see things differently with each passing day. So as I go through this journey called mirror and its reflection, I am reminded that everything I do, every choice that I make of whom I am today, will shape my child’s tomorrow, and my child’s tomorrow will be his future!
