Full Scale Warfare
Posted on February 3, 2011
I did it. I bought a new scale. I was gonna buy an ipad but those don’t tell you how much you weigh so i bought a scale and saved $470. My scale is cool and sleek and silvery-y. I thought maybe it was broken though, because when I stepped on it the number it displayed was the wrong number. I mean, it was probably the accurate number, but it wasn’t the right number. Sigh…
Time to take fitness inventory:
Exercising? yes, but not quite as much as did during training. Monster snow and ice deters me from outdoor runs, but I do belong to the gym in the same building as work. Excuse Score – 80%
Food Journal? no. I understand this is a terrific idea, a wonderful tool and a proven method of success. So why don’t I do it? hmm… I d’wanna. Excuse Score – 100%
Nutrition Planning? 50/50. I know, the single serving bag of chips I ate with lunch are not going to kill me, but then I got a craving and had a second and a third single serving bag (and are they really single servings just because it’s a tiny bag?) I own enough tupperware to store food for the US Marine Corps Infantry Division. I could easily start to pack nutritious lunches again. Excuse Score – 50%
So the point is that falling off the wagon is so easy! Winter blues, family commitments, long hours at work – it all adds up to a triple whammy demotivator. My Excuses are growing faster than the snowmounds on a badly plowed sidestreet. It’s time to take control again.
I know the scale display is not the only measure of my health, fitness and overall well-being. But it IS a strong indicator of how true to your plan you are. To win at full scale warfare I know I have to ditch the excuses, amp up the self-motivation, define my direction and not look backwards or sideways. To thine own self be true.

Oh, Judith! You are so eloquent!
