Recently, the HNE Medicare Specialist team held three educational presentations on the many moving parts of Medicare. Our audience included some of our commercial employer groups, as well as brokers who work directly with HNE. We filled the initial two sessions and added a third date because of the response. More than 120 people attended the three presentations. We held a fourth session in the Berkshires on July 17.

The goal of the Medicare A-D presentation is to educate employer groups and the broker community about the complexities of Medicare. We understand that Medicare can be a complicated and difficult subject. As your employees retire, they may ask you:

• When do I contact Social Security?
• When do I enroll in Medicare Part A and B?
• What is the retirement age?
• And many other Medicare-related questions.

We’re here to help you answer those questions. At the end of each presentation, we provided attendees with a resource packet that included valuable information to assist employees and clients with retirement questions. The following items were included in the packet:

• Informational publications from Social Security
• Low-Income Subsidy Application
• Local Serving the Health Information Needs of Elders (SHINE) directory
• HNE Medicare Advantage plan comparisons that show the different Medicare Advantage plans that HNE offers to Medicare-eligible beneficiaries
