One local non-profit organization was awarded a $50,000 grant, and two local non-profit organizations were awarded a multi-year grant totaling $150,000 each. These grants will be used to implement programs that will improve the health and well-being of vulnerable population groups living in western Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p>The 2020 grant recipients include the New North Citizens\u2019 Council of Springfield, and Clinical &amp; Support Options (CSO) and The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, both in Hampshire County. Each grant recipient\u2019s program supports one of the focus areas of the Where Health Matters Grant Program that influences health \u2013 built environment and care coordination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn these unprecedented times, our Where Health Matters Grant Program makes lasting and meaningful impacts on health outcomes, health equity and social determinants of health for our most vulnerable neighbors,\u201d said Richard Swift, President and CEO of Health New England. \u201cWe are honored to partner with and empower the three awarded local non-profit organizations that are committed to improving the health and outcomes of our at-risk community members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>About Health New England <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Based in Springfield, Massachusetts, Health New England is a not-for-profit health plan serving members in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
