Mammograms can help find breast cancer early. A mammogram is a low-dose x-ray exam of the breasts to look for changes that are not normal. A mammogram allows the physician to have a closer look for changes in breast tissue that cannot be felt during a breast exam. Learn more about breast cancer at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/cancer\/breast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.cdc.gov\/cancer\/breast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Your Health New England Medicare Advantage plan covers breast cancer screenings (mammograms) per the following:<br \/>\n\u2022 One screening mammogram every 12 months for women age 40 and older<br \/>\n\u2022 Clinical breast exams once every 24 months<br \/>\n\u2022 Additional screenings when medically necessary<\/p>\n<p>There is no coinsurance, copayment, or deductible for covered screening mammograms. Preventive screenings are covered up to the limit covered by Original Medicare. Additional tests are covered if they are needed to diagnose and treat a condition.<\/p>\n<p>If you have questions about your breast cancer risk, talk with your primary care provider or specialist about your screening options.
