It occurs most commonly in women over 30\u00a0years of age. Most cases of cervical cancer can be attributed to human papillomavirus (HPV), which is a\u00a0common virus spread through sex.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that all women are at risk for cervical cancer may sound startling. However, what is reassuring<br \/>\nis that cervical cancer is preventable. There are screening tests available to catch it early and a vaccine<br \/>\nto prevent HPV infections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Screenings<\/strong><br \/>\nHaving regular screening tests starting at age 21 can help to find cervical cancer early. When cervical<br \/>\ncancer is found early, it is highly treatable.<\/p>\n<p>Two screening tests are available and can be done in a doctor\u2019s office or clinic:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Pap test<\/strong> (or Pap smear) looks for pre-cancers, which are cell changes on the cervix that<br \/>\nmight become cervical cancer.
