People over age 50 have the\u00a0highest risk of colorectal cancer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Factors that may increase the risk for colorectal cancer include:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 A family history of the disease or polyps<br \/>\n\u2022 A personal history of inflammatory bowel disease, like Crohn\u2019s\u00a0disease or ulcerative colitis<br \/>\n\u2022 A personal history of colorectal cancer or polyps<\/p>\n<p>The best way to prevent colorectal cancer is to get screened regularly\u00a0starting at age 50. Screenings can find polyps, which can be removed before\u00a0they turn into cancer. There are often no signs or symptoms of colorectal\u00a0cancer \u2013 that\u2019s why it\u2019s so important to get screened.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talk to your doctor about your screening options<\/strong><br \/>\nMake time to talk with your doctor about your risk for colorectal cancer. Ask about a screening colonoscopy\u00a0and what other testing options are available.
