Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in\u00a0the United States and the second leading cause of death\u00a0from cancer. People over age 50 have the highest risk\u00a0 of\u00a0colorectal cancer. You may also be at higher risk if you\u00a0are African American, smoke, or have a family history of\u00a0colorectal cancer.<\/p>\n

The best way to prevent colorectal cancer is to get\u00a0screened regularly starting at age 50. There are often no\u00a0signs or symptoms of colorectal cancer \u2013 that\u2019s why it\u2019s so important to get screened.<\/p>\n

Everyone can take these healthy steps to help prevent colorectal cancer:<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Get screened starting at age 50.
\n\u2022 Encourage your family members and friends over age 50 to get screened.
\n\u2022 Quit smoking and stay away from secondhand smoke.
\n\u2022 Get plenty of physical activity and eat healthy.<\/p>\n
