Please be aware that the first number of the Health New England FID number (box 2) should be \u201c0.\u201d The FID number is usually a nine-digit number required for tax filling. The FID number listed in box 2 is only eight digits because the \u201c0\u201d was omitted at the beginning of the number. When filing your taxes, please insert a \u201c0\u201d before the \u201c4\u201d at the beginning of the FID number. We apologize for this error.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a breakdown of mailing schedules and tax form types.<\/p>\n<h3>Form MA 1099-HC<\/h3>\n<p>Health New England sends the Massachusetts Health Care Coverage Form MA 1099-HC to all members. The 2017 Form MA 1099-HC was mailed as of<strong>\u00a0January 31, 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Filing early?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you need to file your taxes before you receive your 2017 Form MA 1099-HC from Health New England, you will need the Health New England tax identification (ID) number to complete your Schedule HC (for proof of health care coverage). To determine the correct tax ID number to use, find the group number on your Health New England Member ID card:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the Group number begins with the letter S, then use the tax ID number: 043012347.<\/li>\n<li>If your Group number begins with any other letter or number, use the tax ID number: 042864973.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Federal Form 1095<\/h3>\n<p>The deadline for health plans and employers to mail the 2017 Form 1095-B, <em>Health Coverage<\/em>, and the 2017 Form 1095-C, <em>Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage<\/em>, to individuals is <strong>March 2, 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The federal 2017 1095 forms identify what health care coverage you had and\/or were offered in 2017.*<\/p>\n<p>*<em>The Affordable Care Act\u2019s requirement that everyone have health care coverage went into effect in 2014; and since 2015, employers and issuers are required to provide the 1095 federal tax forms to members.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Breakdown of tax forms<\/h3>\n<p><strong><em>Form MA 1099-HC<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Health New England sends the Massachusetts Health Care Coverage Form MA 1099-HC to all members. It is mainly used for filing your Massachusetts state tax return. This form is also mailed to Connecticut residents who work for a Massachusetts employer or receive their health care coverage through Health New England.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Individuals who purchased health care coverage through the Health Connector will receive this form. This form is sent by the Health Connector.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Form 1095-B, Health Coverage <\/em><\/strong>\u2013 Health New England will send this form to all fully funded group members.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Form 1095-C, Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Individuals who get their health insurance through their employer (employers with 50+ employees, and self-funded groups) will receive this form. This form is sent by the employer.<\/p>\n<p>Some individuals will receive both 1095-B and 1095-C forms\u2014one from Health New England and one from their employer.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals who have Medicare or Medicaid get their health care coverage forms directly from the government.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please note: An error occurred on the 1099-HC Health Care Coverage tax forms that Health New England recently mailed to members.
