We want to make sure that all of your health needs are met during and after your pregnancy. Our Bilingual Care Coordinators, Jeanette and Hector, are natives of Springfield and Holyoke. Jeanette became a mom at a young age and has years of experience guiding women who are expecting and new moms to meet their healthcare needs. Hector is a dad and a member of the Baystate Maternity Program screening process. They understand your needs and are ready to help you in either English or Spanish.<\/p>\n
Jeanette says, \u201cThe fact that we have a role that is here specifically for social support for expecting and new moms is great. I will call women and girls who say, \u2018Wow, I never got a call from my other insurance company when was I pregnant. You really do this?\u2019 And I say, \u2018Yeah, we\u2019re here to support you and help make sure that you have access to healthcare and understand your healthcare.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Once we learn that you are pregnant, Jeanette or Hector will be calling you. In order to make sure that you get the highest quality of care, they will ask you about things that could affect your health during pregnancy. They will also ask you about issues that could keep you from going to the doctor. If you need help, the Care Coordinator will explain what you need to know and help you get the care you need. Jeannette or Hector will check in with you during your pregnancy to make sure you are getting the help you need.<\/p>\n
Here are some things your Care Coordinator can help you do.
\n\u2022 Apply to HNE or your doctor’s office to see if you are eligible for free transportation to doctor\u2019s visits.
\n\u2022 Apply to HNE to get a free car seat or breast pump, either before or after your delivery
\n\u2022 Learn about pregnancy.
\n\u2022 Learn about your needs after the baby is born.
\n\u2022 Sign up for the Text for Baby program. Text for Baby will give you information about what to expect based on the age of your baby.
\n\u2022 Overcome any other healthcare obstacles that may come up for you. Just ask!<\/p>\n
You will also receive a packet in the mail at the beginning of your pregnancy. You will get another at the end of your pregnancy. The packets will:
\n\u2022 Give you information about good nutrition and exercise to help you stay healthy during and after pregnancy.
\n\u2022 Give you information about Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) benefits from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) so you can get food for you and your family.
\n\u2022 Give you a pair of cozy slipper socks to wear to the hospital.
\n\u2022 Give you information about post-partum depression.
\n\u2022 Give you information about what to expect in the first few weeks of your baby\u2019s life.
