It can happen to anyone, but becomes more\u00a0common as we age.<\/p>\n<p>For women, incontinence can be the result of childbirth, as well as\u00a0the weakening of the pelvic muscles when estrogen levels drop after\u00a0menopause. With men, prostate problems are usually the cause. In addition,\u00a0some medications can cause incontinence, or make it worse.<\/p>\n<p>Two common types of incontinence are stress incontinence, which occurs\u00a0when you cough, sneeze or lift something heavy, and urge incontinence,\u00a0when you feel a constant need to go.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talk to Your Doctor<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you have any form of incontinence, the first step in getting help is an\u00a0honest talk with your primary care provider. There are several ways they can\u00a0diagnose what type of incontinence you have and what is causing it.
