New Hearing Aid Benefit Available in 2017*
Posted on October 1, 2016
Hearing loss affects nearly 38 million Americans to some degree. And, we know that hearing loss can have an adverse effect on all aspects of life—from putting a strain on relationships to increased risk of developing cognitive issues. However, hearing aids have proven extremely effective at improving the lives of people with hearing loss.
On the retail market, hearing aids cost an average of $2,000- $3,000 per aid—which is why about 20 percent of people with hearing loss decide to skip treatment altogether. But at Health New England, we feel this issue is too important to the lives of our members to let it go untreated. That’s why we’ve decided to offer a new hearing aid benefit that will lower your out-of-pocket cost on hearing aids and make it easier for you to address hearing loss, especially if you have been putting it off because it’s been so expensive.
Starting January 1, 2017, we’re offering you the TruHearing Select program, which will cover up to two Flyte hearing aids per year for a low copayment of $699 (per aid) for an advanced level hearing aid or $999 (per aid) for a premium level hearing aid.†
Flyte hearing aids from TruHearing can connect wirelessly with your Apple or Android smartphone to give you more control and flexibility over your hearing experience. And, as part of the program, a TruHearing provider will consult with you to determine the best type and style of hearing aid to address your lifestyle and unique hearing needs.
Additionally, hearing aid coverage includes:
- Initial hearing exam with a TruHearing provider
- 3 follow-up visits with the provider for fitting and adjustments
- 45-day trial
- 3-year manufacturer’s warranty for repairs and one-time loss and damage replacement
- 48 batteries per hearing aid
As of January 1, 2017, you can schedule a hearing exam with a provider in your area by calling TruHearing at (844) 319-2573
If you struggle with hearing loss, we hope you’ll take advantage of this benefit. 2017 is the year to address your hearing loss and benefit from the higher quality of life that affordable hearing aids offer.
