June is Men’s Health Month
Posted on May 27, 2025
During June, take the time to prioritize your health by scheduling your annual preventive care visits with your primary care provider (PCP), if you haven’t done so yet. At your visit, don’t forget to ask your PCP what screenings you are due for and what vaccinations you need (i.e., RSV, flu, pneumonia, shingles, COVID-19, etc.). And, be sure to bring your medications to your appointment so that your PCP can have a complete picture of your prescriptions.
Here’s a list of recommended screenings for men over 65:
Blood Pressure Check: Ask your PCP to assess your blood pressure and your risks if your numbers are out of normal range. You could be at risk for heart disease.
Colonoscopy: Discuss your options for a colon cancer screening with your PCP to assess your colon cancer risk.
Depression Screening: Be screened for symptoms to make sure you are not at risk for developing major depression.
Diabetes Screening: Get a diabetes screening if you have a family history, are overweight, or have other risk factors for diabetes. Been diagnosed? Work with your doctor to ensure you are getting the proper assessments to maximize your health.
Prostate Cancer Screening: Have a risk-benefit discussion with your PCP for undergoing prostate cancer screening.
Vision and Hearing Tests: Get your vision and hearing tested yearly.
Reminder: As a Health New England Medicare Advantage member, if you complete your Annual Well-Care Visit or Physical Exam in 2026, you get a $25 reward loaded onto your Additional Benefits Card once the claim is processed.
