Amendment: Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP)

There is a change in the effective date of the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) – Chapter 4 of the EOC “Medical Benefits Charts (what is covered and what you pay).” As described in your EOC, the MDPP services will be covered for eligible Medicare beneficiaries under all Medicare health plans. MDPP is a structured health behavior change intervention that provides practical training in long-term dietary change, increased physical activity, and problem-solving strategies for overcoming challenges to sustaining weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. Due to a delay with CMS implementation, the plan will begin coverage of the MDPP beginning April 1, 2018.
