You may recall seeing the notice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding FluMist (intranasal quadrivalent live attenuated influenza virus [LAIV4]) for 2017-2018. The ACIP has changed the recommendation that FluMist (LAIV4) may be used for the 2018-2019 flu season in qualified individuals ages 2 through 49 years of age, excluding all women who are pregnant or who might be pregnant during the influenza season as well as immunocompromised patients. ACIP continues to recommend annual flu vaccination with either the inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV) or recombinant influenza vaccine (RIV) for everyone 6 months and older.<\/p>\n
