Portal Access Change to Comply with HIPAA

To ensure our compliance with HIPAA, Health New England strengthened its eligibility access controls to make sure that only those individuals who have the right to this information have access to the information. Over the last few days, we received feedback from our network providers and we also further evaluated other options to satisfy these requirements.
To address concerns related to these recent changes to the member eligibility search function, Health New England is in the process of creating an alternate search criteria that will allow for two options:
Option 1: Member ID and DOB
or
Option 2: First Name, Last Name* (as listed on the Member’s ID card) and DOB
This online change was in place effective April 16, 2018.
*In some instances, Health New England members may have a suffix attached to their last name (e.g. SMITH JR). If after entering the member’s first name, last name, and date of birth you are unable to find a match in the system, please review the member’s identification card to ensure you are entering it exactly as it is listed on the card. If the member does not have their identification card, please have the member contact Health New England directly so they can have a representative provide them with either their membership ID number or how their last name is listed on their membership card.
