Colorectal Cancer Screening

Health New England is working with Polymedco and Baystate Reference Labs (BRL) to help promote the importance of colorectal cancer screenings to our members. Within the next few weeks, Polymedco will mail a letter and fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kit with instructions to HNE members who may not have completed any colorectal cancer screening. The letter and instruction sheet will be provided both in English and Spanish.
The FIT kit is at no cost to members and the test can be completed at home. Once a member performs the test, they are instructed to return the kit via a prepaid envelope to BRL. BRL will bill HNE and notify the member’s PCP of the results. The member’s PCP will be responsible for informing the member of the results and if the result is positive, to schedule a follow-up diagnostic evaluation (typically a colonoscopy).
