Code of Conduct, Reporting Issues and Annual Training

It is Health New England’s (“HNE”) policy to conduct its business in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations and to assure that HNE operates in a manner consistent with the letter and the spirit of the laws.
This Code of Conduct applies to all HNE employees and associates, including members of the HNE Board of Directors and governing Board members, Participating Providers, Vendors, Contractors, and all third parties conducting business on behalf of HNE, including, but not limited to first tier, downstream and related entities (FDR’s) (collectively, “Covered Individuals”). HNE expects all Covered Individuals to adhere to this Code of Conduct when conducting business on behalf of HNE and its subsidiaries.
Reporting Concerns: All Covered Individuals are required to promptly report potential compliance, or fraud, waste and abuse (FWA) issues of which they have knowledge or a good faith belief. Report in one of the following ways:
a) Report to Health New England Compliance: compliancedepartment@hne.com.
b) Call the Health New England Compliance hotline toll-free at (800) 453-3959, 24 hours, seven days a week (reports can be made anonymously).
c) Potential fraud may also be reported directly to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) Hotline:

Annual Compliance Training: Medicare Providers must complete Compliance and FWA training that meets the requirements outlined in Chapter 21 of the Medicare Managed Care Manual and, at a minimum, includes:
- Code of Ethics/Standards of Conduct;
- A method for reporting compliance concerns;
- A Statement that good faith reporting carries no retaliatory actions.
