The Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) consists of a diverse group of patients and family members who come together regularly to advise their health care providers on how working together can help better maintain or improve health outcomes for patients.
PFAC members are valuable, and have a powerful voice. They offer recommendations to support high quality health care policies, planning and procedures that affect all involved, such as:
- Giving feedback on their experiences during their health care visits.
- Engaging with management, medical directors, doctors and other health care providers to serve as advocates for other patients.
- Identifying gaps in health care services and recommending services that might assist with closing those gaps from a patient’s perspective.
- Empowering patients to feel valued by having a say in their health care.
Ultimately, the PFAC provides advocacy for their peers, making sure all patients have high quality health care, and works with providers to improve standards of care for the best possible patient experience.
