Virtual: The Latest Medications for Parkinson’s Disease | Thursday, September 14, 6:00—7:00 p.m.
Medications can be impactful for the treatment and symptom relief for Parkinson’s Disease. Join Dr. Robert Martin, neurologist, movement disorders specialist, Baystate Neurology, for a discussion about the remarkable changes in treating Parkinson’s Disease, what medications work, when to start medication, as well as side effects and the continued efforts with medications for the latest treatments utilizing medications.

In-Person: AARP Smart Driver Refresher Course | Tuesday, September 19, 10:00 a.m.—3:00 p.m.
Baystate Health Education Center, 361 Whitney Ave, Holyoke
Fee: To be paid at the event—$20/AARP member; $25/non-AARP members
There have been many changes in cars and roadways to improve driver safety. Join Skip Estee, AARP driver safety instructor, for a discussion about valuable defensive driving skills, proven safety strategies, how to stay current with the latest driving technologies and rules of the road, as well as physical changes that can impact your driving ability. Michelle Lantaigne, OT, Baystate Rehabilitation Care, will discuss tips for adapting to our physical changes and when intervention is needed to be able to effectively maneuver today’s roadways. Fee: To be paid at the event, $20 per person for members of AARP and $25 per non-member of AARP. Many participants may be eligible for a multi-year insurance discount after taking the course. Participants are encouraged to check with their insurance agent to see if they are eligible. There are no tests required to pass the course.

Virtual: Shortness of Breath and Interstitial Lung Disease | Wednesday, September 20, 6:00—7:00 p.m.
If you have shortness of breath, it could be interstitial lung disease, a group of disorders that cause progressive scarring of lung tissue like a restrictive lung disease (pulmonary fibrosis) or an obstructive lung disease (COPD). Join Michele Hart, RN, pulmonary nurse clinician, Baystate Pulmonary Rehabilitation, for a discussion about lung disease, the many things that can increase risk, common symptoms, and how pulmonary rehabilitation can increase your strength and endurance to improve your quality of life.
