The Importance of Adolescent Well-Care Visits
Posted on September 1, 2016
Going to see your doctor or primary care provider (PCP) once a year is important. It’s even more important for children. Seeing the doctor before becoming sick can teach children how to take charge of their health and how to stay healthy.
An adolescent well-care visit is for children ages 11 to 21. It is a yearly doctor visit that includes a complete health history on both physical and mental health development; immunizations; lab tests; vision, hearing and dental services; and health education.
Well-care visits can give your child’s doctor a chance to catch something early and then provide guidance or treatment before it becomes serious or a long-term problem.
Yearly well-care visits are free to members. Health New England covers the costs.
