Tax Form Update: Mail Deadline Extended for Form 1095-B
Posted on March 31, 2016
We would like to inform you that Health New England has requested a 30-day extension from the IRS on the deadline for mailing the federal 2015 Form 1095-B, Health Coverage, to our members. The forms will now be mailed on or before April 30, 2016.
Please note that this extension only affects our fully-insured, non-Connector members.
What this means to members
This delay in receiving the federal 2015 Form 1095-B, Health Coverage, will have no impact on your ability to file your 2015 taxes. If you have not done so already, you are still able to file your taxes before receiving the Form 1095-B from Health New England.
You can use your state Form MA 1099-HC, which was mailed to you in January, to complete the health care coverage portion of your taxes. The 1099-HC form has all the information you need to file both your state and federal taxes.
The federal 2015 1095 form identifies what health care coverage you had in 2015.*
*The Affordable Care Act’s requirement that everyone have health care coverage went into effect in 2014, and 2015 is the first year that employers and issuers are required to provide the new 1095 federal tax forms to members.
