Registered for the Member Portal yet?
Posted on May 27, 2016
Last fall, Health New England launched a new and improved member portal at my.HealthNewEngland.org, which replaced HNEDirect for members. Since then more than 10,600 members have registered and are using the simple and convenient member portal.
Why use the member portal?
Many of us do our banking and pay bills online. Why not manage health care online as well? The secure member portal allows easy access to information and tools that can help you better manage your health care benefits and claims.
Who can register?
All eligible members can register on the member portal. That includes subscribers, spouses and domestic partners, and dependents aged 18 and older. Encourage your eligible dependents to register.
What can I do on the member portal?
Here are a few of the most used tools on the member portal:
• Claims overview – View or print your recently processed medical and pharmacy claims.
• Provider search – Find a provider and see who’s accepting new patients.
• Wellness reimbursement – Complete and submit your reimbursement form online. (Not available for some self-funded plan members.)
• Benefit details – Reference the benefits that are included in your plan.
• Pharmacy benefits – Find a nearby pharmacy, search for covered drugs or sign up for mail order.
• Cost-of-care calculator – Estimate medical expenses for treatments or services based on your benefits and coverage; search by condition, service or location in order to compare costs and find the most affordable option.
On the member portal, you also have the option to give your adult dependents permission to view your claims. And, in order for you to view and manage their claims, they need to register and give you permission to do so—yet another reason to have them register.
Explanations of Benefits now online
As a reminder, Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) are provided in electronic format on the member portal and are no longer automatically mailed to members. You can print an EOB from the Claims page, but if you want your EOBs mailed home, log into the member portal and change your mailing preferences, or request paper copies by calling Member Services at (800) 310-2835.
If you haven’t already done so, register for the member portal at my.HealthNewEngland.org and make it easier to manage your health care benefits.
