Great Places to Bike!

Posted on August 22, 2014
Now that we have all learned how to ride a bike safely, check out
massbike.org or traillink.com to find some cool places to ride all over Massachusetts, including Cape Cod, and the Islands. The best part about the trails is your bike is not competing with cars for the road.
Remember, life is all about the journey!!!
Berkshires & Western Massachusetts
My favorite trail is the Norwottuck Rail Trail in Northampton. It is a 11 mile path linking Northampton, Hadley, and Amherst along the former Boston and Main Rail right-of-way. There is free parking for trail users at both ends of the path.
Another great trail to take your family to is the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail (origin near the Berkshire Mall). It is a pleasant 11.2 mile ride along the Hoosic River and gorgeous views of mountains, lakes, and rivers.
North Massachusetts
Ride through beautiful meadows and spot abundant rhododendron flowers in June at the Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield.
Or visit Callahan State Park in Framingham for a full day of biking along 7 miles of marked trails and nearly 100 acres of open fields.
Central Massachusetts
Nashua River Rail Trail is an 11 mile paved trail that offers cyclists scenic overlooks and opportunities to see wild life.
The Massachusetts Central Rail Trail will eventually be 104 miles long – running from Boston to Northampton. It was originally a railroad line that built for Governor Calvin Coolidge to travel from his home in Northampton to the State House in Boston and was shattered by a hurricane in 1938. This rail trail is under development and currently about 25 miles are open. (I am looking forward exploring this one with my family!)
Pump up those tires, download an app, and hit the rail trails!
So, where will you go biking this weekend? Please share!!
Oh and before I forget, I still have a limited supply of my mini first aid kits. To claim your reward you must take my bike safety quiz. It is only six quick questions, so be sure to act now!!
