Fall Family Fun Activities
Posted on October 13, 2014
Fall in New England looks and smells GREAT!!! The fall season is such a fun time to get outside, enjoy the fresh air and have some fun with your family! Each day this week visit my blog to get ideas for outdoor activities! And check out my pumpkin carving safety tips at the end of the week.
Take a hike in the park, enjoy the foliage and have the kids collect some leaves of all shapes and sizes. Be sure to bring some plastic/paper bags with you to put the leaves in. Pack some healthy snacks to share when you are taking a break and collecting the leaves!
When you get home you and your family can make leaf rubbings. Here are the materials that you will need:
- Leaves
- Plain white paper
- Crayons
Now you are ready to give it a try:
- Take the leaves you have collected
- Get a piece of plain white paper and put the leaves (vein side up) in any pattern that you like.
- Put another piece of plain white paper over the top of your leaves
- Pick out the crayons, one color or all of your favorite colors, and peel off the wrappers.
- Using the side of the crayon gently rub over the top piece of the white paper
- The image of the leaves will come through on the paper!
I framed and hung one of my daughter’s leaf rubbings and it makes me think of fall in New England all year long.
Don’t forget to take my quick weekly quiz to see how much you have learned today. There is a reward at the end of the quiz, so act now before they are all gone!
