Back to School Health Checklist
Posted on August 17, 2015
The summer is coming to an end and fall will be here before you know it. This means back to school time for the kids! The best way to be prepared for your children to return to school is to make sure they have all their healthcare in order.
Make sure to complete your back to school checklist before school starts so you don’t end up doing a lot of last minute running around.
Here are some things to do before school starts:
• Make sure your child is up to date on his/her shots. School age children, from preschoolers and middle schoolers to high school and college students, need shots to protect them against serious diseases.
• If your child has allergies or health problems and needs to be medicated during school hours, be sure to speak with the school nurse to make sure this can happen.
• Make sure your emergency contact list is updated with current names and contact information. And be sure everybody gets a copy of one (teacher, principal, nurses, bus driver, etc.) who is responsible for your child while at school.
• Get an eye exam or hearing test done if you child complains of having vision or hearing issues.
By taking these steps to ensure your child’s healthcare is in order before school starts, you are making a great start to a healthy school year!
