Access to a physician 24/7 with Teladoc*
Posted on March 2, 2016
Effective January 1, 2016, Health New England Medicare Advantage members can take advantage of telehealth services through TeladocTM. You now have access to U.S. board-certified physicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You can request a phone or online video consultation with a Teladoc physician to treat non-emergency medical issues such as a cold or the flu, urinary tract infections, ear infections and more. Teladoc physicians can also electronically prescribe non-narcotic, short-term prescriptions as part of the treatment.
Teladoc account set-up
To save time when you really need it, set up your Teladoc account in advance. Refer to the Teladoc welcome kit that was mailed to you in early January. This mailer includes a username and instructions for setting up an account and completing your medical history. Go to Teladoc.com or call 1-800-Teladoc (835-2362) to get started. Then, you will be all set to request a consultation when you need it most.
Consultations and cost
An affordable and convenient alternative to the urgent care center or emergency room, Teladoc guarantees to connect you with a doctor in less than an hour. The member cost is the same as a visit to your primary care provider (PCP).
However, it is important to note that Teladoc does not replace your PCP and should not be used for treatment of chronic conditions. In many cases, the Teladoc provider will send a copy of the visit to your PCP after the consultation.
Qualified, experienced physicians
Teladoc providers are U.S. board-certified in internal medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, pediatrics and dermatology. They are U.S. residents, licensed in your state, with an average of 20 years of practice experience. In addition, Teladoc physicians are credentialed every three years with NCQA provider credentialing standards.
To request your Teladoc consultation, call 1-800-Teladoc (835-2362) or visit Teladoc.com.
