A culture of giving back: Taking action as a family
Posted on December 19, 2016
Our family knows how to give back. Each year, we donate toys (picked out by our children) to Health New England’s Holiday Families Toy Drive. Our family also donates money to the Friends of the Homeless to cover the cost of 100 meals and volunteer to serve those meals. Our money is also donated to several non-profit programs like Ludlow Hockey, to help under privileged kids learn how to ice skate. We also like to donate new games to local schools and items to put together shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.
We have also sponsored several Ethiopian children and frequently send care packages of the most basic necessities (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap etc.). Our children pick out the items for the care packages, add a picture and include a note to make each care package special. I also like to buy lunches and deliver them to a homeless people a few times a month when I am on my way to buy lunch for myself.
Our family is truly committed to giving back, not just around the holidays but throughout the entire year.
