A culture of giving back: Stepping up to make a difference
Posted on December 19, 2016
Every year I pick a different charity to support. The last two years I hosted a diaper drive in my home. I collected hundreds of boxes of diapers and wipes to donate, with the help of my local community and friends, to The Grey House in Springfield. 1 in 4 homes struggles to provide clean diapers to their child. This has helped hundreds of families. It was a fun way to give back to the community.
This year I am hosting a collection for teen girls and homeless women. I created an event called (Helping Girls : The Flow Movement) . It is to provide homeless women and teens with sanitary products. Upon creating this Facebook event It has been shared\like\RSVP over 3,000 times. Women still struggle to pay for these products often time missing work and school because they are unable to.
I’m hoping this event will cause a big enough impact in the community to create a more sustainable way to provide these products to women for free.
