Blue plate special anyone?
Posted on June 8, 2012
We don’t hear much about the blue-plate special these days but in the 1920s-1950s, it was a common term for the low-priced meal of the day.
While it did not refer to the actual color of the dinner plate, you may want to take a second look at blue-plates. Modern research shows that eating off a blue plate may help to curb your appetite. Because the color blue is rarely found in the foods we eat, our appetites don’t seem to respond as quickly to blue. Some weight loss experts suggest you try putting a blue light in your refrigerator to help curb your grazing tendencies, while others suggest adding blue food coloring to foods on which you’re prone to binge—like when you’re frosting cupcakes for your child’s birthday party!
