Spring Weather is here!
Posted on March 16, 2012
We have had a mild winter and it may just turn into a HOT spring. The weather forecast is predicting sunshine and temps into the 60s and 70s with a chance of even 80 next week. You can’t get a better spring forecast than that!
As the sun rays get stronger…we need to remember as the days get longer and the sun shine gets stronger to protect ourselves from the harmful and damaging rays from the sun. We all want to stay young and great looking into our old age but more importantly, we do not want to develop skin cancer.
Sun screen with a 30 SPF is your greatest protection. If you choose a SPF greater than 30 then it only increases your protection by 1% -2%. You should apply the sunscreen 30 minutes before you go out into the sun so it is absorbed into your skin for your best protection. Don’t forget the frequently missed places…tops of ears, nose and for those of us with thinning hair, the tops of our heads.
Don’t forget to protect the children as well when they are playing outside in the sun. Wide brimmed hats and lightweight clothing that covers arms and legs are our best choices for our infants and toddlers.
Our eyes & lips are often forgotten when it comes to sun protection. Don’t forget to wear you sunglasses and lip balm with SPF sun screen added.
The sun’s rays are the strongest shining between the hours of 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. This time period is the most important time of the day to protect ourselves from the possibility of sunburn and damage to our skin.
Most important to remember it to get outside now the nice weather is here and enjoy the outdoors.
