Representative Finn has some interesting things to say about health care reform and how it will positively impact Western Massachusetts.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Question 1
\n<\/strong>How will health care reform impact my employees?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Answer:
\n<\/em><\/strong>I think the residents of Western Massachusetts will be positively impacted. All our efforts at the state level are aimed at enhancing consumer protections, creating greater transparencies within the health care industry, and embracing modern technologies we believe will reduce waste and duplication within health care. The results of these changes will be higher quality care delivered at reduced costs through more efficient health care systems.<\/em><\/p>\n

Question 2
\n<\/strong>How will federal health care reform affect Massachusetts?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Answer:
\n<\/em><\/strong>Federal health care reform is currently being challenged in the U.S. Supreme Court, and it\u2019s something that we are watching very closely at the state level. But that is no reason to not take action, as there is plenty that we can still do at the state level to bring about more quality, highly efficient, and lower cost health care. With the reforms that we are working on now, we will still be able to tackle the increasing costs of health care through comprehensive legislation that will empower consumers and reward our highly efficient and quality providers that won\u2019t be affected by any federal challenge.<\/em><\/p>\n

Question 3
\n<\/strong>As a member of the Health Care Reform Financing Committee, what are you working on that will help the residents of Western Massachusetts?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Answer:
\n<\/em><\/strong>Since being appointed to serve on the Health Care Finance Committee, I have viewed my role as an opportunity to make sure that Western Massachusetts is included in the greater health care reform discussion. I continually stress how important our community and teaching hospitals are to this region. In Western Massachusetts, we deliver a very high quality of care at reduced rates when compared to providers in the eastern part of the state. Additionally, our health care workforce challenges are different and I continuously advocate for attention to be given to the primary care shortage we see in Western Massachusetts, as well as for ways to attract young medical professionals to this part of the state.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
