Tax season is upon us and we\u2019d like to share information about mailing timeframes for the 2020 Health Care Coverage tax forms. Below is a breakdown of timing for each tax form type.<\/p>\n
Form MA 1099-HC<\/em><\/strong>
\nHealth New England sends the Massachusetts Health Care Coverage Form MA 1099-HC to all members. The 2020 Form MA 1099-HC was mailed before January 31, 2021<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\nTax ID Numbers<\/em><\/strong>
\nIn case anyone needs to know Health New England\u2019s tax identification (ID) number to complete the Schedule HC (for proof of health care coverage), below is how to determine the correct tax ID number:<\/p>\n\n
- If the Group number on the member ID card begins with the letter S, then use the tax ID number: 043012347.<\/li>\n
- If the Group number begins with any other letter or number, use the tax ID number: 042864973.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\nFederal Form 1095<\/em><\/strong>
\nThe 2020 Form 1095-B, Health Coverage, and the 2020 Form 1095-C, Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage, will be mailed by\u00a0March 2, 2021,\u00a0<\/strong>per the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) deadline extension from January 31, 2021.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\nPlease note:\u00a0<\/strong>If a member needs a duplicate form after the above listed dates, they should log into the Member Portal<\/a> to submit a secure request, or email Member Services at memberservices@hne.com<\/a>. Please include full name, member ID number, and which form is being requested.<\/p>\n
Explanation of tax forms<\/strong>
\nForm MA 1099-HC<\/em> \u2013 Health New England sends the Massachusetts Health Care Coverage Form MA 1099-HC to all members. It is mainly used for filing the Massachusetts state tax return. This form is also mailed to Connecticut residents who work for a Massachusetts employer or receive their health care coverage through Health New England.<\/p>\nFederal 1095 forms<\/em> identify what health care coverage a member had and\/or were offered in the previous tax year:<\/p>\n

- Form 1095-A<\/em>, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement \u2013 Individuals who purchased health care coverage through the Health Connector will receive this form. This form is sent by the Health Connector.<\/li>\n
- Form 1095-B<\/em>, Health Coverage \u2013 Health New England will send this form to all fully funded group members.<\/li>\n
- Form 1095-C<\/em>, Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage \u2013 Individuals who get their health insurance through their employer (employers with 50+ employees, and self-funded groups) will receive this form. This form is sent by the employer.<\/li>\n
- Some individuals will receive both 1095-B and 1095-C forms<\/em>\u2014one from Health New England and one from their employer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
