Catamaran is now OptumRx
Posted on February 2, 2016
You may have noticed the OptumRx logo appear recently on Health New England ID cards. In July 2015, Catamaran, completed its combination with OptumRx. This combination means that the Catamaran name and brand has been replaced with OptumRx on all communications.
What is Health New England’s relationship with OptumRx?
Health New England’s pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), which was previously Catamaran, is now named OptumRx. Going forward, we will be referring to our PBM by its new name, OptumRx. Health New England continues to use OptumRx as our PBM for our Commercial line of business. Prior to this combination, we had existing relationship with Optum in a variety of areas, including access to centers of excellence for transplants and for a Chiropractic network.
How does the rebrand from Catamaran to OptumRx affect Health New England members?
The transition from the Catamaran name to OptumRx should be relatively seamless for members, aside from the name change. There is no change in phone numbers to contact OptumRx (previous phone number for Catamaran is still fully functional) and the phone numbers listed on ID cards are all correct. There is no change in Health New England’s pharmacy network as a result of the merger, so members may continue using the same pharmacies they have in the past. The process is the same for initiating a mail order prescriptions; however, there is a new OptumRx version of the mail order form posted on the Health New England website.
Please contact your Health New England account executive if you have any other questions. We would be happy to help.
