Health Insurance with a Personal Touch… and Now a Wider Reach

Posted on August 25, 2014
Health New England is known for its personal approach to health insurance. We cut the red tape and make it easy for you to reach real people. Now we’re expanding our patient-centered care. We have been watching over the health of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, and western Worcester Counties. Now we are pleased to announce the expansion of our community to include all of Worcester County. We have added three more hospitals in Worcester County: Clinton Hospital in Clinton Health Alliance Hospital in Fitchburg, and Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster. UMass Memorial, St. Vincent, Athol Memorial and Heywood Hospital in Gardner were in our network already. We now have a total of seven hospitals in Worcester County. Part of the recent expansion includes Marlborough Hospital also, which is in Middlesex County.
Health New England is unlike any other local health insurance carrier. We are the only one that does not require referrals to see specialists as a standard feature, with no additional charge. We trust you, so we let you decide when you need to see a specialist. Others allow only your Primary Care Physician to make that call. By going directly to a specialist, you can get the care you need faster.
As one of few health insurance carriers owned by a hospital (Baystate Health), our priorities are centered on healthcare, not revenue. We have recently become a nonprofit. We strive to keep all of your healthcare team working together in the same space, easily updating one another on your needs. If they cannot be in the same place, we ensure that your care team is at least in regular communication. Most health insurance carriers are not so involved. We see ourselves as coordinators of your care, not just check-writers.
We also partner with WebMD™ to give members an online wellness portal, where you can:
- Review your medical information
- Complete a Health Risk Assessment to find out what problems you need to watch for
- Research medical conditions, treatments, and preventative techniques
- Sign up to receive emails with new information on health issues of concern to you

The staff at Health New England feel deeply rewarded to be taking care of you, and to be able to do the same for people from the Berkshires to Worcester County.
