At HNE, we are continuously looking for ways to fulfill our mission to improve the health and lives of the people in the communities we serve. Launching Monday, August 4, we are pleased to announce a new health and safety public initiative called HNE’s Living Well with Dr. Laurie.

Here is a summary of this exciting venture:

•Each weekday morning a 60-second radio spot will air on 94.7 WMAS at 7:50 am. HNE’s VP and medical director, Laurie Gianturco, MD aka Dr. Laurie, will share health and safety information based on the personal challenges she faces while trying to keep herself and her family safe and healthy. A new subject will be discussed every week.
•Listeners will be directed to hne.com/drlaurie for more information. The first subject will be sun safety.
•A microsite and blog have been created at hne.com/drlaurie that will contain information relating to the subject of the week. Each day (M-F) a new topic will be discussed on her interactive blog. The first week the topics under sun safety will include: What is skin cancer?; Who is most at risk for skin cancer?; What are the symptoms of skin cancer?; Are tanning beds safer than the sun?; How can skin cancer be prevented?
•A weekly quiz will be featured based on the subject of the week. Visitors who take the quiz will receive a mini first aid kit as a reward.
•Social media will also play a big part in the tracking and promotion of this exciting new venture.

We are optimistic about the positive impact this new approach will have on HNE’s brand. And, the potential for it to generate new interest in all that HNE has to offer our region.
