Healthy Directions

HNE designed the Healthy Directions Employer Wellness Program to help HNE Employer Groups establish cultures of health at their workplace by removing the administrative burden of implementing health promotion and wellness programs. This outcomes-based wellness program allows employers to take advantage of the premium differentials available under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), and the incentives offered through the Massachusetts Wellness Tax Credit Incentive Program. The goal of this program is maintain health in employees who have low health risk, while reducing health risks and enhancing the overall health of employees who have moderate to high health risks. This goal is accomplished through the program’s four fundamental components: Assess, Engage, Transform, and Maintain. Each component works to promote optimal health.
Assess
The Healthy Directions Employer Wellness Program begins with a kick-off event at the worksite. HNE offers employees biometric screenings (blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, body mass index, and body composition)*, interactive health information, and raffle prizes. It’s a high-energy, fun event to get employees motivated. Employees can complete a comprehensive health risk assessment (HRA) also. Each employee that completes an HRA receives a report highlighting opportunities for health improvement.** Additionally, the employer group receives a baseline report of aggregated data.
Engage
Healthy Directions programming supports overall health improvement of your employee population. Programs are based on clinical evidence, behavior change theory, and industry best practices. Programs are offered in a number of ways:
Online
- Digital Health Assistant
- Webinars
- Individual Activity Challenges
Onsite
- Kick-off Event
- Goal Setting Session
- Individual and Group Activity Challenges
Community Based
- Walks, Runs, Cycling Events
Transform
Once the program has started, your Healthy Directions Health Coaches issue activity challenges to support the fundamental concept that everything we need to know about good health we learned from our parents:
- Go out and play (activity, exercise, stress relief, social health)
- Eat your vegetables (good nutrition)
- Wash your hands and brush your teeth (prevention).
Maintain
Aside from the priceless reward of improving one’s health, sometimes employees need a bit of motivation to start moving in a healthy direction. The Healthy Directions Team works with employers to set up appropriate program reward/incentives that make sense to the employer and help maintain healthy behaviors in employees.
The HNE Healthy Directions Team works directly with employers to set up the Healthy Directions Employer Wellness program. We’ll track participant health outcomes, program participation, medical and pharmacy claims, and any other data provided by the employer group, to generate a return on investment for employer groups with a minimum of 50% participation in the program. To schedule an introductory meeting please give us a call at 413-233-3391 or send us an email at healthydirections@hne.com.
* Additional fees may apply.
** Due to HIPAA regulations and cost considerations, only HNE members have access to the health risk assessment.
