Q. How is my company protected from large medical claims?
A. Most employers seek to mitigate the financial risk of paying large medical claims under the plan by purchasing stop loss insurance from a reinsurance carrier. Stop loss policies provide limits on the employer’s risk liability both on a specific claim and aggregate claims basis. The employer still pays for the medical claims received by the employees, but the stop loss insurance is available to cap large claim costs.
HNE has preferred relationships with several of the nation’s top-rated reinsurance carriers.
