Since the time of its enactment in 2010, the health care reform law has remained controversial — at least in part due to a constitutional challenge to the law’s requirement that almost all Americans carry health insurance or pay a penalty tax. In June 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the law’s “individual mandate.” As a result, the law is generally slated to continue to take effect as scheduled.
